About Music at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½

There’s a lot to love about music study at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½. Our students’ opportunities to learn and grow as musicians are as diverse and interesting as they are. Whether traveling in choir tours, having the chance to explore multiple musical interests, or keeping the love of music thriving as a non-major, these alumni share some of their favorite things about ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½â€™s Music Department.

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ University is where small town charm meets big city opportunity. Perfectly situated in the picturesque, safe and friendly city of Westerville — ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ is only 15 minutes outside of Columbus, Ohio — the nation’s 14th largest city, named one of the “30 most fun places to live in the country.â€
The remarkable liberal arts education that ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ provides allows students to find their career path in the arts, develop their musicianship and engage in a variety of performance opportunities.

  • Our students benefit from a supportive and caring faculty in a small campus setting and participate in a robust array of ensembles.
  • Our active student OMEA chapter provides interaction with a variety of guest speakers and presentation topics.
  • Most importantly, graduates of our BME degree track have established careers as K-12 public/private educators, studio teachers, university faculty, and have gone on to further their performing interests.

The Bachelor of Music Education degree at ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ is a four-year degree with K-12 licensure in all musical areas. The curriculum provides in-school placements in each year of study, and a full array of methods courses including guitar and ukulele methods.
